I am excited to be part of the Mr. Malt team with the opportunity to help and support talented passionate brewers!
Here you can find my bio to learn a little more about my background but in this first introductory blog, I would like to provide a sneak-peek into upcoming topics & provide an impression of the ideas, operational insights and approaches I have experienced in my career to date.
As my role as Product Manager Brew with Mr. Malt and the wider Caldic team, I will get the opportunity to learn from the best suppliers & I plan to distil this knowledge down into consumable and usable takeaways for the busy brewer to consume in the quest for better beer.
My early career & brewing education instilled in me the importance of fundamentals, structures and systems to brewing. Specialising in quality and seeing the inner workings of large breweries provided useful insights. I was also fortunate to work directly with one of the most influential and accomplished brewers in the British brewing industry & they helped to shape some of the core brewing philosophies I hold dear.
One of these key beliefs is aligned with the thinking of many of the top chefs. When you can source excellent ingredients, the ultimate goal is to process these appropriately, exhibiting the strengths and harmonizing with the other ingredients to achieve balance. If you can achieve this consistently despite the inherent raw material variations you are really onto something!
Working as a supplier for the last 10 years, I have been fortunate to visit 100s of breweries, from the smallest to largest and the cross pollination of ideas remains fascinating to me.
